We have been noticing that lot of folks right here in Denver are not securing their networks. We have been having conversations with our clients talking about how to make your home of office Router secure.
As we have been working with clients over the past few weeks we have noticed that there are a lot of businesses and residents that have unsecured routers. Many people are literally taking these devices out of the box from the store and setting them up with the default name and password. The problem with that? Well, hackers could pull the default password from the internet and go to town on your personal network. As we have brought this up over and over the question remains from our customers who want to know how to make your home or office router secure.
What should you do?
Well, we suggest you create your own complex password. We are talking no 1,2,3,4 or A,B,C,D here. Using upper case, lower case, symbols; really mix it up and make it near impossible to break that password.
Second, you can literally make your router invisible to peering eyes. You can actually set up the router so that when other people in your area are searching for available networks that the name of your router will not show up. They will not be able to find your router without know the exact name of it.
When you are looking for ways how to make your home or office router secure the best bet is to change your password, make the password complex, rename your router and make that router invisible to prying eyes.
