Code Blue Computing Policies

Personal Files Privacy

At Code Blue Computing, we are committed to preserving your data and respect your privacy. Our primary mission is protecting your data from viruses and hardware failure. While your computer is under our care, it may be necessary to backup your data to an external hard drive to protect it while we work on your problem. The backup is on a secure system and remains there only for the duration of the repairs. Once your computer is healthy again, the backup is destroyed. Our technicians do not employ techniques to “spy” on you and would never compromise your trust. This is the owner’s promise to you.

We work with many industries including law firms, accountants, mortgage brokers, real estate agents, trucking companies, dental and medical offices which require Code Blue Computing to sign non-disclosure agreements. We also understand HIPAA laws regarding the disclosure of medical data. Our services and products are geared with HIPAA and other regulatory rules in mind to ensure you not only receive the best IT support but put your mind at ease knowing your data is safe. If you have a requirement for us to sign a non-disclosure agreement, we have a standard one on file that we can send to you or we can use your own. Just give us a call ahead of time.

Code Blue Computing does offer computer recycling. Did you know that just simply deleting files and emptying the trash bin is not a safe way to destroy your personal files? It’s very easy for someone with little computer knowledge to retrieve files. We take the extra steps of doing a secure data wipe (if the drive is functional). This entails using special software that utilizes Department of Defense standards for secure data wiping to make at minimum 7 passes over the hard drive, writing random data across the entire surface of the drive. This procedure ensures that the data is irretrievable. The E-Waste recycler then uses a hydraulic press to punch the drive motor out while deforming the platters and destroying the read/write heads in the process. The E-Waste recycler then issues us a Certificate of Destruction, which we pass onto to you, as evidence the hard drive was destroyed.
